IoT R&D Engineer

RideOnTrack is a fast-growing company that develops operational communication systems for mission-critical networks. Our products and services are used by customers for whom telecommunication is an essential part of their day-to-day operations, including railways, police, public safety, disaster relief, and more. We are technology frontrunners and offer solutions such as Dispatching, IoT edge computing, Gateway solutions, Voice Recording & playback, and Digital Mobile Radio (DMR).

Our team consists of talented and passionate individuals who translate specific requirements of our customers into solutions based on the latest state-of-the-art technology. As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated IoT R&D Engineer to join our team in developing our new Condition-based Maintenance Platform for Railway Infrastructure.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the R&D team to design, develop and implement IoT solutions for our Condition-based Maintenance Platform
  • Contribute to the integration of hardware and software components of the IoT system, including sensors, devices, gateways, and cloud-based data platforms
  • Handle the collection, structuring, and transport of large volumes of data generated by IoT devices
  • Develop and optimize cloud-based data processing systems
  • Apply AI and ML models and techniques to enhance the capabilities of our IoT system
  • Implement cybersecurity measures and best practices across the IoT system
  • Ensure all IoT solutions are tested, reliable, scalable and adhere to company and industry standards
  • Participate in the development of product roadmaps and strategic planning
  • Prepare technical documents and specifications
  • Provide technical support to customers and colleagues as required

Profile

  • University Master degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines. PhD profiles are also welcome
  • 5+ years of experience in IoT systems development is a plus, but new graduates will also be considered
  • Proven experience with programming languages like C++, C#, Java, and Python
  • Familiarity with IoT hardware and software, data collection and structuring, and cloud-based data processing
  • Experience with software development tools, such as Git, JIRA, or Visual Studio
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall
  • Good understanding of AI and ML models and techniques relevant to IoT systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Able to work in a highly complex and international environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Dutch, both written and verbal (French is a plus)
  • Passion for learning and continuous improvement
